24-hour and night care: your questions answered
Short answers about 24-hour and night care. For the full service page, see below.
Is 24-hour care one person for the whole day?
No. It is arranged as a day carer and a night carer with a handover. One person working 24 hours without rest is unsafe for both the carer and the patient.
Can I book night care only for a few nights?
Yes. Night attendants can be booked for a single night, a week or on a continuing basis, subject to availability in your area.
What if the night attendant needs a nurse for a medical task?
Attendants do not do medical procedures. If a doctor has prescribed injections or similar care, we can add a nurse visit alongside the attendant.
Can I book 24-hour care for one week only?
Yes, for a fixed period such as a week after discharge, subject to availability.
Do the two carers meet at handover?
Handover can be in person or through written notes. The aim is that nothing is missed: medicines, food, sleep, mood and anything to watch.
What if the night carer falls sick?
We arrange a substitute where we can and tell you early. Honest communication matters more than a promise we cannot keep.
Can 24-hour care include a nurse?
A nurse can be added for medical tasks such as injections, in addition to attendants. Nurses visit for tasks; they do not usually stay all day.
Is 24-hour care a replacement for a hospital?
No. If your doctor advises hospital care, follow it. Home care suits stable conditions that can be managed with help at home.
In an emergency, call 108 (ambulance) or go to the nearest hospital. ServQ Healthcare supports planned and ongoing care at home.
